Bottle of Roshni 2023 Rosé of Pinot Noir
2023 Rosé

New Release!

Harvested from thirty-year-old Dijon Triple Seven Pinot Noir estate grapes, this year’s rose is a delight. A floral bouquet introduces the stone fruit notes of white peach and nectarine profiles driven with an appealing minerality. A pop of effervescence finishes this bone dry and delicious wine.

Bottle of Roshni 2022 Rosé of Pinot Noir
2022 Rosé
$18

89 Points Wine Enthusiast

The 2022 growing season started off with a challenge—a historic early April frost that damaged many early blooming vineyards at lower elevations in the valley resulting in lower fruit yields, but summer and early fall kicked up the sun and heat yielding a gorgeous darker pink Roshni Rosé that is richly redolent with cara orange and pomelo notes and features fresh pops of red fruit, especially strawberry, so classic for Willamette Valley rosé. Enjoy.

Bottle of Roshni 2021 Rosé of Pinot Noir
2021 Rosé
$10 or $100/case

Close out pricing, only a few cases remain

The Roshni Rosé 2021 vintage is spectacular—our favorite yet. The weather cooperated throughout the growing season. A beautiful blush color, our rosé is crushed from 28-year old Dijon Triple Seven Pinot Noir grapes. While it is still acid driven, favoring ruby red grapefruit and hints of pomelo that highlight our site’s minerality, this year’s vintage also teases a hint of watermelon rind and a kiss of strawberry on the finish that beg for a second taste.

Bottle of Roshni 2021 Reserve Pinot Noir
2021 Pinot Noir Estate Reserve
$45

91 Points Wine Enthusiast
90 Points James Suckling

2021 was an ideal year producing one of our best wines to date. We blended fruit from our various blocks of thirty-year-old vines to craft a complex wine rich with raspberry and cherry pie and teasing notes of rose and hibiscus. 2021 Reserve is a classic pinot noir—fruit rich, structured and showcasing the terroir and perfect growing year. The finish is classic pinot—a whisper and temptation to continue to savor. Salud.

Bottle of Roshni 2020 of Pinot Noir
2020 Pinot Noir
$20

2020 for $20. With the various wildfires burning in Oregon and the smoke descending in the Willamette Valley for a few days in early September, the 2020 vintage offered many challenges as pinot grapes are delicate thin-skinned, but the production risk paid off with an unusual but luscious pinot bursting with a dark cherry, plum, earth and spice. It’s a fruit forward wine with a pop of sweetness on the finish. Delicious now alone or paired with food.

Roshni Vineyard 2019 Pinot Noir
2019 Roshni Pinot Noir Estate
$30

2019 had a few farming challenges as rains moved into the Willamette Valley in early September following a very warm and dry summer. But with conscientious farming, the rain ended up being a blessing which created a medium bodied, bright and fresh Pinot Noir with Italian blue plum tones overlaying the earthy, forest floor and spice that drive the character of this vintage. The earthy tones are supported by the dark fruit notes.  Only 75 cases made.

2018 Roshni Vineyard Pinot Noir Wine
2018 Pinot Noir
$30

Lots of black and blue plum on the nose with a slight orange zest and rose petal floral tone. On the palate, it is driven by a blackberry and pomegranate character. Medium bodied and elegant, and with a lingering rose petal note on the finish.

Roshni Vineyard 2019 Pinot Noir
2019 Roshni Pinot Noir
$30

Roshni Vineyard 2019 Reserve Pinot Noir McMinnville Oregon
2019 Roshni Reserve Pinot Noir

ABOUT THE NAME

Roshni is a Hindi/Urdu word for light or brightness. We chose the name as a heritage shout out and to honor Raj and Swadesh Sawhney, who immigrated to the United States from New Delhi in India in the 1970s so that their two sons could, with hard work and dedication, pursue the many opportunities America offers. Roshni’s mission is to create delicious wines that create and celebrate memorable moments.

AVA & TERROIR

Roshni is LIVE Certified and located in the McMinnville AVA, and is the closest vineyard to historic downtown McMinnville. Our terroir derives from the Cascade Mountain lava flows and tectonic plate movements that created the coastal range 38 to 55 million years ago. The soil is primarily marine sediment and silt, and harder rock and compressed sediment of basalt pebbles and stone are found underneath the top soil several feet below.

Roshni’s site is south facing and receives light throughout the day, making it a warmer site, and because the vineyard benefits from its location in the rain shadow of the Coastal Range, it also enjoys the drying winds from the Van Duzer corridor.

OUR STORY

Deepak and Sinclair Sawhney discovered the Willamette Valley on a scouting trip to find wines for their upcoming wedding more than twenty years ago. Seattlites, they fell in love with wine and the topography and lifestyle of the Willamette Valley. They returned annually, visiting a couple of tasting rooms on the way to Cannon Beach and hitting up a couple more on the way back. And each visit they would stop on a gravel road, look around and ask: “When are we moving?”

Ten years ago we packed up and never looked back. While Roshni sells the bulk of our grapes to a variety of local vineyards, we hold back about three tons of our old growth vines to make a Pinot Noir Rose, an estate Pinot Noir and a Pinot Noir Reserve. Chardonnay and Sparkling are in the mix. And two fallow acres are teasing us, daring us to plant a few more vines of our dream favorites.
